I am a former Senior Patrol agent and Intelligence agent with the U.S. Border Patrol and a whistleblower. As an agent, I witnessed firsthand the cruelty, racism and violence that is the culture of the most corrupt and unaccountable agency in the federal government. After many years of soul searching and listening to those harmed by me and my agency, I chose to confront my own racism and prejudice and tell the truths about the Border Patrol.The deadly border wall divides vibrant communities. Our immigration policies intentionally force asylum seekers to put their lives at risk, harm wildlife, and decimate indigenous lands. Tens of thousands of human beings, including children have died because of our "deterrence" based policies and militarization. In over 25 years, not one of these policies has slowed or stopped migrants from coming to our southern border. It's time for a change.
